Now in its ninth successful year, The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2010 recognises the excellence and outstanding achievements of Hong Kong's leading law firms and in-house legal teams as well as the top deals and dealmakers of financial year 2009 - 2010.
The Awards, which is part of an international series organised annually by ALB, attracts over 400 of Hong Kong's most influential solicitors, in-house counsel, investment bankers, judiciary and CEOs, who assemble to celebrate with the winners as they accept their awards on stage. The event is the culmination of months of intensive research. Winners remain confidential until the awards ceremony itself, where they are revealed over a gala black-tie dinner. ALB is honoured to welcome two estemeed guests of honour - Mr. Charles Li, Chief Executive, HKEx and Mr. Russell Coleman- SC, Chairman, Hong Kong Bar Association to this year's event.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited
Charles Li became Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) on 16 January 2010. Mr. Li has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, including in corporate and securities law practices, corporate finance and advisory services in Hong Kong, the Mainland and New York.
Before he joined HKEx, Mr. Li was chairman of JP Morgan Chase China. He joined JP Morgan in March 2003 and was responsible for all of its China businesses. Mr. Li has also worked for Merrill Lynch and was president of Merrill Lynch China, responsible for its China investment banking operations. Before moving to Merrill Lynch in 1994, he practiced law in New York with Davis Polk & Wardwell and Brown & Wood.
He obtained a BA degree from Xiamen University of China in 1984, a MA degree from the University of Alabama in 1988 and a JD degree from Columbia University School of Law in New York in 1991.
Mr Li worked as an offshore oil worker in the north China sea prior to college, and a newspaper editor-reporter for China Daily from 1984-1986.

Russell Coleman SC was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 1986. He moved to live and work in Hong Kong in 1990, and was admitted to full practice at the Hong Kong Bar in 1991.
He practises from Temple Chambers, and enjoys a broad practice in civil and commercial law. He took ‘Silk’ in 2006.
He is a Chartered Arbitrator, has published various articles, and edited texts, on arbitration, and is frequently appointed as arbitrator, in domestic and international arbitrations. A past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, he is a Council Member of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).
In January 2009 he became the Chairman of the Bar Council of the Hong Kong Bar Association, and was re-elected in January 2010.
